Old Rope 50'/# (left), New Rope 11'/# (right)
  1. Wool Rope for Log Home Laterals(Grooves):
    • Add 6' to the length and 6' to the width of the home to allow extra for notching.
    • Multiply 2 times the new length and 2 times the new width and add them together.
    • This is the lineal feet/round so multiply it by the number of rounds.
    • Now you have the total lineal feet and divide this by the feet/# given under the photo above for the type of rope you will use.
    • Now you have the pounds required if only one length of rope is needed

    • Measure the depth and width of your laterals.
    • The wool rope is about 1-2" x 2-4".
    • Determine if you’ll need more than one length of rope in the laterals.
    • Multiply the pounds needed for one length by the number of lengths you will need.
    • Add 5 pounds for a safety margin.
    • This gives you the total number of pounds of wool rope to order. Call Stan at 403-845-6705 to place your order.

    16", 24" Batts

  2. Wool Batts for Frame and Timber-Frame Homes:
    • Add separately the total wall, roof and floor square footage to be insulated.
    • For 16" centers divide the square feet by 87 to get the total number of 20.41 pound bags needed and then multiply by the number of 2" layers needed.
    • For 24" centers divide the square feet by 90 to get the total number of 21.11 pound bags needed and then multiply by the number of 2" layers needed.
    • Call Stan at 403-845-6705 and order by the number of bags needed for either width.
